Croatia

This week's guest on the blog is Goran from CROATIA. We met at Webster University in St. Louis, Missouri and bonded over our passion for good food and traveling. Last year, together with 4 other friends, we went on an epic trip to CancĂșn, Mexico. The picture is from when we went zip lining in the jungle! Take it away my friend!

Please finish the sentence: “A healthy person in my opinion is"…a person that is aware of internal and external factors influencing it, in terms of, for example, food intake and physical activities, it's emotional consciousness level and how it absorbs situations and other peoples behavior towards them.

Healthy snacks you bring on trips or have in your bag on a regular basis? Almonds or walnuts – always and everywhere.

Any easily accessible workout tips you can share for when someone is traveling? It depends on the type of trip, because sometime it’s okay to take a break from our usual workout routines, but jogging doesn’t require any equipment, just sneakers.

Any newly discovered healthy foods that make you feel good? For the last couple of years I have been taking spirulina - works amazing for the immune system.

What is the most underrated veggie in your opinion? Ginger and broccoli.

Have you ever been on a trip and discovered a new healthy food/spice that you now have incorporated into your everyday diet? If so where did you go and what kind of food/spice? For detoxing, young coconut water is great, especially after long, long nights – I discovered it while living in Bangkok, and because it is so accessible, I’m still frequently drinking it here in Hong Kong.

A famous quote from Aung San Suu Kyi is: ”If you are feeling helpless, help someone.” Do you have a suggestion on how to brighten up someone’s day? I believe that first we need to know how to ‘brighten’ ourselves in order to help make someone else feel better.

If money and time was no object, where would you go for an active vacation in your home country? Definitely I would sail Croatian islands, especially southern part of the country, sail from Sibenik and end up in Dubrovnik. Unbeatable.

Goran, thank you so much for being part of this digital journey and for reminding me I need to start taking spirulina again! And sailing the Croatian islands is most definitely on my list of future travel adventures!
